Shop 'n SaveWHO - WHAT - WHERE - WHEN - WHY - HOW WHO is allowed to purchase furniture? Anyone can purchase furniture at any of the locations posted on the Stores page within this site.
WHAT is the difference between the manufacturers' outlet stores and retail/discount furniture stores? Most manufacturers' outlet stores carry overruns and discontinued pieces. These outlet stores are great places to search for individual pieces at huge savings. The local retail/discount stores carry the current lines of furniture where you can order individual pieces or complete suites. Our visitors are reporting savings of 30 to 50% at these stores.
WHERE in NC should I shop? Thomasville and High Point are adjacent to each other with more than 100 furniture stores in that small area. Again, the "Furniture Market" is here. Furniture is what we do and the fierce competition between the stores makes this the place for savings and selection. HOW much do I save? Most are estimating savings of 30-50% on full sets of furniture and up to 70% on individual pieces.
WHERE should I stay? All hotels listed in this brochure are at Interstate 85 and located within minutes of the top furniture stores. Thomasville hotels have assured us that if you call their local number and tell them the Thomasville Visitors' Center referred you they will give you their lowest discount rate!
WHEN should I come? The furniture stores have market and showroom samples at great prices year round. However, more than 100,000 manufacturers/ exhibitors, sale representatives, retail home furnishings buyers, interior designers and the like attend the "International Home Furnishings Market" (which is the largest in the world) one week each fall and spring. Call us to find out when they are scheduled so that you can AVOID these times. They are not open to the public and there are no hotel rooms available within an hour's drive. Additionally, many stores are closed on Sundays.
WHY do I save more by coming in person as opposed to ordering over the telephone or internet? In order to protect furniture dealers in other parts of the country, many manufacturers put restrictions on what can be quoted over the phone and internet. Others prohibit all such orders.
WHY do I save when I come to shop in NC? COMPETITION! Well over 100 furniture stores in approximately a 10 mile radius with each store typically dealing for 100 to 700 manufacturers means that you can buy almost any furniture at almost any store. The competition keeps prices LOW.
HOW do I get the furniture to my house? Most stores keep showroom samples only, so you place an order and allow 8-10 weeks for delivery. The outlet stores and some retail stores do have furniture that you can buy off the showroom floor and take with you, but for the most part you will place an order to be shipped later. For furniture delivered across state lines, MOST stores do NOT charge NC State sales tax, so that helps minimize any shipping and delivery costs. |
