While furniture stores are huge attractions, few sites are physically larger than the “World’s Biggest Chair” (graced by President Johnson), the 85-foot tall “Highboy” or the 4-story “Chest of Drawers.” Similarly, the national attention that follows the historic T’ville Diner is vast. One of NC’s top 5 Diners, only the taste and savings are bigger than the Diner’s following.
The Thomasville Tourism slogan: “From where we sit, you can see it all.” The Chair City- Thomasville, could not be more true. Along with Thomasville Furniture and more than 1,000 other brands to choose from, a furniture factory tour and the furniture monuments, this area is home to the North Carolina Transportation Museum, NASCAR museums, drivers and teams, the Childress Winery and Vineyards, the Thomasville Emporium, the Bob Timberlake Gallery, the NC Zoo, Seagrove Pottery, lakes, water parks, baseball’s historic Finch Field, ample baseball and softball fields for tournaments, golf courses, a skateboard park, convention and meeting space, the beautiful Castle McCulloch where more weddings are held than any other place in North Carolina, and believe it or not, much more! Yes, almost all of the aforementioned places are within 15 minutes of downtown Thomasville.
